At Xcel, our typesetting skills were previously cultivated on dedicated photo-typesetting equipment before the desktop publishing boom began. We now use Macs to utilize the latest software, and we continue to adhere to traditional book typesetting standards: no widows, no orphans, and no hyphenation between pages or columns of type. Pages always bottom align unless a rag bottom is a requested part of the design. We are professionals at the craft of kerning type and we attempt to minimize end-of-line hyphenation as well as eliminate awkward machine-generated spaces within- or between words. Client-submitted files always undergo a thorough review by our production team. This ensures potential problems will be resolved before the composition process even begins.
Our pre-press team uses the most up-to-date versions of QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign for page layout services. Image processing and illustration re-drawing are typically executed in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The Xcel team of experienced compositors will then organize your document with a consistent style and formatting.
We understand the importance of crisp, clean layouts for conveying your message appropriately to your readers. Our expert team of typesetters will transform your raw manuscript into a consistent, structured ePub- or print-ready format.
We are capable of fulfilling all of your typesetting requirements from 1-color to 4-color with some of the best turnaround times in the business.
